A BUSINESS park in Hayes has announced plans to expand and double its capacity, with two new buildings in the pipeline.

Melford Capital Partners, the owner of Hyde Park Hayes (HPH), in Millington Road, Hayes, wants to build one four-storey and one five-storey block on cleared land, with 212 extra surface and basement-level parking spaces.

The development would provide just over 20,000sqm of office space, double what it has now.

A 108-room hotel and restaurant is being considered for the northern part of the 10-acre site, but this is under review.

Jason Lowes, from planning consultancy firms Rapleys, acting as agents for Melford Capital Partners, said: “The proposals will bring forward a host of economic, social and environmental benefits to the area, and represent a major investment in the future of Hayes.

“Not least, the two high-quality, highly-energy efficient buildings will significantly improve the appearance of the neighbourhood and bring large numbers of jobs to the area.”

The complex is already home to three office blocks – HPH1, HPH2 and HPH3.

There are more than 1,000 employees on the site, at the half a dozen companies who currently let space there.

The site is next to Westlands 3, once home to Westland Aircraft and Fairey Aviation and now subject to a planning appeal following the borough's refusal of an ASDA superstore there.

The public inquiry started on Tuesday.

Leading web hosting company Rackspace is one of HPH’s main tenants, having secured HPH1 and a floor of HPH2, and basing its headquarters at the park.

A public consultation on the proposals will run until October 15, and the council is due to make a decision on the bid by the end of the month.
