A 47-year-old Ealing man today denied stabbing his wife just days after threatening to kill her.

Errol Alexander is said to have knifed Dorothy Alexander, 41, repeatedly in broad daylight.

The bloodied woman was seen staggering from Gurnell Grove, Ealing, west London and collapsing in front of passengers on a bus.

She was taken to St Mary's Hospital for treatment for a number of stab and slash wounds after the incident at 2.30pm on July 10 this year. She was discharged several days later.

Alexander appeared at the Old Bailey accused of attempted murder.

He denied the charge as well as possession of a knife.

Alexander also pleaded not guilty to common assault and making a threat to kill his wife on July 1.

Judge Christopher Moss QC set a trial for January 5 next year, which is expected to last up to a week.

Alexander, of Falcon House, Gurnell Grove, Ealing, west London, was remanded in custody.
