Hundreds of local families flocked to a football stadium for a charity football match and fun day.

The Rotary Club of Harrow organised a game between a squad of former Tottenham Hotspur players – the Spurs Legends – and its own Charity XI side made of up local businessmen, supporters and celebrities.

The day raised over £10,000 for charity and had face painting for children, a fire truck and a police car.

Although the charity team lost, the day was a success said fundraising committee member Nigel Warburg.

He added: “It was a fantastic day, it could not have gone better. The kids loved it and we had hundreds of people there, it was great.

“The money raised will go towards Cancer Research UK and 30 local and national charities supported by the Rotary Club.”

The fixture took place at Harrow Borough FC’s Earlsmead Stadium in Carlyon Avenue, South Harrow on Sunday.
