A DOG breeder from Hayes has successfully defended her title at world famous dog show Crufts.

Rae Ganna’s five year old otterhound, Hugo, scooped Best In Breed for the second year running, beating 31 other dogs in the process then going on to compete for Best in Group.

Hugo also won last year and in 2008, making him the biggest winner in the category’s history.

Mrs Ganna has been showing her beloved otterhounds at the prestigious event for 10 years, and keeps 10 of them at her home in Charville Lane.

She said: “To come back and defend the title is a fantastic achievement. I am really proud of Hugo.

“He’s a great dog but you never know what the judge’s preference is going to be.

“Getting him ready for the competition was a lot of hard work. I do a lot of road walking with my dogs to get them fit, and you have to prepare their coats and keep them well groomed.”

This year’s event, held at the NEC arena in Birmingham, welcomed 26,000 dogs from around the world.
