A computer graphics artist from Pinner has had the privilege to work on a top secret project set to transform the gaming world.

Lewis Young landed his dream job as a model and texture artist and has helped design computer graphics for the highly anticipated new 'Xbox Experience', which will be released on November 19.

Gamers will be able to connect to the internet via Xbox consoles, enjoy more games and play against friends online.

Lewis played a part in creating the new Xbox 360 Avatars - online characters which people can transform into computer representations of themselves. Gamers will be able to customise their Avatar's body shape, gender, facial features, hair style and clothing.

The talented 26-year-old got the job working with gaming giant Rare Ltd after he attended an intensive computer graphics course at Escape Studios, a creative hub based in West London, which trains computer graphics artists to Hollywood standards.

Lewis said: "The avatars are looking really cool and it has been great working on them."

The project is so top secret Lewis has been asked not to talk about the designs before the launch date - although he did create some avatars for the Observer, which he modelled to look like himself.

The young designer had no computer graphics experience before attending Escape Studios, having previously studied English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. He decided to look into computer graphics courses because he liked the idea of being paid to be creative.

Following the completion of a number of Escape's courses, Lewis landed a job with Rare Ltd within one month of graduating.

People who have attended Escape Studios have gone on to work on high profile films, including Quantum of Solace, The Dark Knight, The Chronicles of Narnia and the Harry Potter films.
