The people of Hounslow have clubbed together to help the islanders of Vanuatu, which was devastated by a tropical storm.

Cyclone Pam ravaged the South Pacific island chain to the east of Australia on March 13, killing at least 11 people and leaving tens of thousands homeless or without access to clean drinking water.

Subhash Mahajan, who is the chairman of the Friends of Beaversfield Park, in Hounslow West, was so touched by their plight he set about collecting money to support ongoing relief efforts.
