THERE'S gold in the streets of Hounslow, according to new research showing it is one of the UK's hotspots for lottery winners.

The Twickenham postcode, covering most of the borough, including Hounslow, Brentford and Feltham, ranks 29th out of 121 areas when it comes to the number of big-money winners per head of population in the last three years.

Since the National Lottery launched in 1994, 19 millionaires have been created in places with TW postcodes and 207 people have banked prizes of more than £50,000.

The area ranks only 53rd for winners throughout the lottery's history, but has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, figures published by the National Lottery reveal.

Romford is the UK's luckiest place, according to the list, which as you might expect is dominated by poorer regions where people are more likely to play the lottery.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said: "Congratulations to the people of Twickenham, who live in one of the UK's luckiest postcodes. Luck might not always be on the side of the many rugby teams that play at the stadium but it seems National Lottery luck certainly shines in TW."
