Race chiefs fear the recent war in Gaza could yet spark a wave of anti-semitism in Hounslow, although no attacks have yet been reported.

There has been a huge rise in attacks on Jews across London this year, especially after the fragile cease-fire between Israel and Palestine was briefly broken.

Satvinder Buttar, head of Hounslow's Race & Equalities Council, said the borough, including the Hounslow and Heathrow Synagogue (pictured) had so far escaped the violence but people should not be complacent.

"There haven't been any anti-semitic attacks reported recently but we're monitoring the situation because during past conflicts anti-Israel stickers have appeared on lamp posts," he added.
