A GIRL born in Hounslow has been catapulted to fame after bagging a leading role in a new Disney musical phenomenon.

Naomi Scott, 18, who started her life in Hounslow, has been enjoying her new found stardom after playing Mohini "Mo" Banjaree in 'Lemonade Mouth', a film about five teens who form a band and break through to become the voice of their generation.

But her success has not stopped there, she is now working with Stephen Spielberg on his latest film to hit the big screen.

Lemonade Mouth, which has already aired on the US Disney Channel, reached over 13 million viewers in its first two showings. Its sound track achieved a number four spot in the US Billboard Chart.

It will premier in the UK on Disney Channel and Disney Channel HD on Friday September 16 at 6pm.

Miss Scott got the role after she auditioned via video conference from London, she is the only Brit to make the cast.

She began her career by honing her singing skills in a youth band, and performed regularly in school musicals and drama productions. Her big break came when she sang at a performance attended by British pop singer Kelle Bryan from the all-girl band Eternal, who quickly signed her as a client.

Naomi has been busy promoting the film, and even toured London on a vintage bus to get the word out. She was the only Briton selected as part of the cast.

Naomi will co-star in Spielberg's science fiction dinosaur drama Terra Nova, which is due out later this year. She is appearing with a star studded cast. which includes Bridgit Mendler, of Good Luck Charlie, and Adam Hicks, of Luther.

A spokesman for Disney said: "A humanitarian at heart, Scott has regularly participated in mission and outreach work. She has travelled several times to Slovakia to teach English in secondary schools and perform with her youth band. In her free time she enjoys song writing, singing, dancing and playing piano."
