A CAR-FULL of food has been donated to a food bank helping feed the borough's poorest families.

Staff at Thames Valley Housing handed over the huge haul of non-perishable goods to Hounslow Community FoodBox last week.

Employees from the housing association, which looks after more than 1,000 homes in Hounslow, have been working with the food bank over the last few months to refer those most in need.

They were so impressed by what they saw they clubbed together to do their bit to help the food bank, set up by Hounslow council.

Food bank trustee Sam White said: "It is really touching to see such an impressively generous effort - literally a car full of food and essentials. It will make a huge difference to local people who find themselves in real difficulty."
