A WEBSITE has given the Master Brewer Hotel three-star status - despite the fact that the dilapidated building was demolished more than a year ago.

Travel Republic.com has described the hotel, a borough landmark which stood at Hillingdon Circus for more than 40 years, as a modern purpose-built building, with 106 quiet bedrooms, most of which overlook a nice green garden.

The website also states that "although the hotel provides all the facilities of a three-star, the property would benefit from a light refurbishment."

Little remains of the hotel except a pile of rubble, after the so-called eyesore was destroyed following a series of attacks from arsonists and vandals.

Formerly owned by Fuller's Brewery, the site was bought by supermarket giant Tesco, which has made several planning applications to build a superstore, together with hundreds of flats. So far, these have been defeated.

Travel Republic is a member of ABTA, the association which represents more than 5,500 travel agencies and 900 tour operations throughout the British Isles.

An ABTA spokesperson commented: "This is quite possibly an oversight on Travel Republic's behalf.

"Most of the company's business comes from international bookings - very few are made in

the UK - so I suspect that the staff were simply unaware of the listing, and have yet to update the website.

"Obviously the listing should be removed as soon as possible. I can't say that any company doesn't make mistakes as a result of human error, but Travel Republic have a good reputation, and I am sure there was never any intention to mislead people."
