An undertakers was flooded by torrential rain, causing thousands of pounds of damage.

Water pouring from Ravenor Park welled in the back gardens of homes and seeped through the brickwork of Patrick Ryan and Daughter Funeral Directors at the bottom of the hill in Oldfield Lane South, Greenford.

Joint owner Lynn Furlong was called out by the fire brigade at about 2.30am on Monday night.

The 38-year-old said: "The water was coming over the top of my toes all the way through. It was rushing down from the park into people's gardens. We were just wallowing in water, it was awful. "I was there for about three hours brushing it out."

The Oldfield Lane Newsagents next door was also badly hit and firefighters were called out to seven other sites across the borough to pump out water.
