In January 2008, my dad, Patrick John Clark, aged 81, became a resident of Hayes Cottage Nursing Home, Grange Road, Hayes.
My mum died in September 2006, which was a great loss and shock to us both, as she was only 77.
Between 2006-07, dad encountered ill health, which meant he required 24 hour nursing care.
I remember my first visit to Hayes Cottage. I found it very homely and welcoming.
The nursing and caring he has received from the staff has been great.
There are three sections to the home; Larkspur, where Dad is, Primrose and Columbia. They have many different outings during the year from the home, which are well organised.
It is so good for the morale of the residents and their families. There is normally a celebration at Easter, St Patrick's Day and much detail is put into it.
The food is good, fresh and well planned and any dietary requirements catered for and served by friendly staff.
Dad's first Christmas party at the home had great entertainment and good food, with the families attending as well. They all had a good sing-along.
Also, there are meetings for families and friends to attend with staff to discuss comments and suggestions.
The home is so well run, with so much care, that I would like to say a very big thank you to them all for the overall running of the home. It is such a happy place with my dad feeling safe and well cared for.
