A company which provides home care to the elderly has announced 153 new jobs around Ealing and Hammersmith.

Home Instead Senior Care has announced the new caring jobs and three office based jobs in the region for the year ahead in a major recruitment drive starting this month.

Tony Hussain of the Ealing office said: “With an ageing population, caring for the elderly has never been a more important issue. The huge increase in demand for home care has resulted in a significant period of change and growth in social care, which is leading to a broader range of improved job opportunities in the sector.

“We consider our fantastic caregivers as everyday superheroes; they are everyday people doing extraordinary work. Whether they are providing companionship care, preparing meals, or helping with daily living routines, they are making a difference to the lives of the elderly.

The latest figures from Age UK report there are now more pensioners than under 16s living in the UK and with many older people opting to remain in their own homes, there is a boom in demand for people in caring roles.

A recent report from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills has identified the need to recruit over half a million carers by 2022.
