National Union of Teachers (NUT) members are going on strike to protect pensions, pay, workload and the test culture.

Teachers are protesting against government changes, including teachers working until they are 68 or beyond, increasing pension contributions by 50 per cent and reducing the pension package and introducing performance related pay.

Some teachers in Hillingdon are set to join the action on Wednesday, but many schools are hoping to stay open, or partially open for certain school years.

St Andrew's CofE Primary School, Coteford Infant School, Harlyn Primary School, Minet Junior School, Whitehall Infant School, Frithwood Primary School, St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, St Catherine Catholic Primary School, Ruislip Gardens Primary School, St Swithun Wells Catholic Primary School and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School will be open as usual.

The Breakspear School, Colham Manor Primary School, William Byrd School, Yeading Infant and Nursery School, Highfield Primary School, Hillingdon Primary School, Ruislip High School, Hayes Park School, Haydon School, Abbotsfield School and Oak Farm Infant School will all be partially open, meaning some teachers will be striking.

Meadow High School and Oak Farm Junior School will be closed.

It is not yet known how other schools in the borough will be affected. We will update as we find out.

In October, borough teachers joined protests over the same dispute regarding pensions and pay.
