Hillingdon Police are carrying out 40 search warrants across the borough today as part of a Met wide operation to crack down on knife crime, drugs and theft.

It is the highest number of warrants ever executed in one day in the borough and the searches in Hillingdon make up a quarter of all 160 taking place across London today under Operation Big Wing.

Borough police made two arrests this morning for possession of drugs - one class A and one class B.

They will continue to carry out raids throughout the day based on information that has been given to police by members of the community.

Borough commander, Detective Chief Superintendent Nick Downing, said: "We are seeing an increase in community engagement, we are listening to people's concerns and we are taking action."
