OVER £70,000 is being invested in older people's dining clubs in the borough to make sure the elderly continue to be well-fed.

A recent survey commissioned by Age Concern and Help The Aged released today showed that one in five pensioners were skipping meals to fund rising fuel bills.

Hillingdon Council are working to ensure that the choice of 'Heat or Eat' does not become a common one, and their dining clubs offer the perfect solution to anyone low on funds.

Older people attending the clubs pay just £2 for a two-course hot meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The centres are run by volunteers and the clubs receive funding from Hillingdon Council, in addition to this Meals on Wheels services can be delivered direct to residents' homes.
