HOSPITALS in Hillingdon are making emergency plans to deal with any outbreak of Swine Flu if anybody infected is flown in through Heathrow.

Schools across Hillingdon have also been sent information advising them in case pupils are in school who have recently returned from an Easter break to Mexico.

A Trust spokesperson for Hillingdon Hospital said: "The Trust has a pandemic flu plan in place which will be implemented if necessary.

"Sympoms of human swine influenza are similar to those of seasonal influenza, infection with this virus is reatable with ant-viral drugs."

Isolation rooms are believed to have been prepared at Hillingdon Hospital in case of any emergencies.

"Anyone who has recently visited one of the countries or areas where human cases of swine influenza has been reported, it is important they monitor their health closely for seven days after their visit to the affected area."

Hillingdon Council are also sending information to schools, while advising them not to panic.

Chris Spencer, director of education and children's services, said: "It is important that schools give strong messages to children and parents that there is no need to be unduly concerned with regards to recent reports about Swine Flu.

"As a precaution we will be working with schools to reinforce the good hygiene practices that all schools in Hillingdon already promote.

"We are also in contact with the director of public health who will also offer appropriate advice to schools and parents."
