A hospital was left in 'absolute chaos' after being evacuated this morning when a fire alarm was triggered.

Patients, staff and visitors had to leave Hillingdon Hospital, in Pield Heath Road, Uxbridge, after a fire alarm went off before 10am.

One frustrated patient, Paul Davies, tweeted: "Sod's law got hospital appointment and end up getting evacuated due to fire alarm going off."

Mr Davies also described the scene as 'absolute chaos'.

London Fire Brigade were called at 9.50am, but have since left with a spokesman describing it as 'a small incident'.

The hospital, overseen by the The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust, is the only acute hospital in the borough of Hillingdon, and is the receiving hospital for Heathrow Airport emergencies.
