HILLINGDON has been commended as a biking borough, with British Cycling donating a framed Team GB cycling shirt in recognition of successful projects getting people on their bikes.

Councillor Henry Higgins, the borough’s cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, accepted the shirt during a visit to the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit on Tuesday last week.

He said: “We have been working with British Cycling to offer a number of free bike rides to residents and the response has been good.

“The council has also recently launched its Change4Life Hillingdon campaign to encourage residents to be more active and cycling is great form of exercise, and something for the whole family to enjoy.”

The track, at Minet Country Park in Springfield Road, Hayes, is home to the Hillingdon Slipstreamers, for young people, and the Minet Ladies Cycling club.
