Hillingdon’s young cricketers have won through to a prestigious final at Lord’s.

The borough XI, aged eight and under, went unbeaten through the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Indoor Cricket male qualifiers at the end of January to top their table.

The young stars of the future beat Merton, Kingston and Wandsworth in an impressive all-round display, with their best performance with a bat seeing them score a tremendous 117 in 60 balls.

They can now look forward to the finals alongside seven other boroughs at the home of cricket on March 1.

Team Manager Gordon Summerfield was delighted with the team’s performance. He said: “There’s a certain amount of relief, for them as they’ve worked so hard all winter to get here.

“Some of those boys have come a long way from being not very good to being amazing indoor cricketers over six months of training. So I’m really pleased for them!”
