A vegetarian restaurant in Heston has been voted one of the country's best South Asian eateries by MPs.

Delhi Wala, in Vicarage Farm Road, was nominated for this year's Tiffin Cup by Feltham & Heston MP Seema Malhotra.

Despite missing out on a place in the grand final at the House of Commons, it was highly commended, receiving a certificate and an embroidered Tiffin Cup chef's jacket.

Ms Malhotra said: "I am delighted Delhi Wala has been highly commended in the Tiffin Cup. It is unfortunate it did not manage to reach the grand final, but this is such a prestigious award and to be honoured in this way is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff."

The Tiffin Cup is awarded each year by the Tiffin Club of MPs, with MPs across the country invited to nominate a South Asian restaurant within their constituency.

This year's competition was won by the Purple Poppadom, in Cardiff, as voted for by MPs and celebrity judges including TV chef Ainsley Harriott at last month's cook-off.
