Villagers living in the shadow of Heathrow have more bad news, night-time flights are set to increase over the coming months.

Between April 27 and September 10, development work will begin on taxiways connecting the southern runway with the rest of the airport.

As a result the southern runway will close at night during this period, meaning an increase in flights at the northern runway, on Hillingdon's doorstep.

Colin Matthews, CEO of BAA said: "We know that for some local residents this will have an effect on the level on aircraft noise that they experience at night. We are very sorry for the disturbance whilst this work is carried out."

Lynne Davies, who lives in Sipson Road said: "For people living in Longford directly under the flight path this is awful news.

"I'm like a yo-yo at the moment, one day I want to fight and the next I just want to get out."
