A FASHION student's work is set to hit the shelves after she won a competition to create a designer bag.

Karishma Dhawan, of The Heathland School, in Hounslow, fought off competition from thousands of students across the country to design a limited-edition bag for designers Radley.

The 18-year-old's design has now been produced and will be available in selected stores across the country.

Karishma, who lives in Staines Road, Hounslow said the bag - which features a dog among falling leaves, accompanied by the words 'that was just a walk in the park' - was inspired by the stress of exams.

"At the time I was thinking mostly about the stress of exams and waiting for results, so it was a bit of a jokey reference to that," she said.

"I'm planning to study fashion at university and it's a huge thrill to get my design made and sold in stores."

The annual 'Radley Design Your Own Pocket Bag' competition challenged wannabe designers across the UK to come up with an autumn-themed pocket bag. Karishma's bag was chosen after receiving the most 'likes' on social networking site Facebook.

A spokeswoman for The Heathland School said: "We are extremely proud of her achievements, and as we are the only school in Hounslow offering A Level fashion this is a particularly important occasion for us."
