It was interesting to read Fiona Buxton's tale of our Tory Council's eff iciency (Kensington & Chelsea News, November 6).
Unfortunately she has tunnel vision when comes to anything blue.
Recently the Tory-controlled Kensington & Chelsea Council turned down a government grant of £30million to renovate Holland Park School so they can spend much more in taking the school's green space to build luxury town houses.
This may not be eff icient in the present economic turndown.
Then there is their overwhelming efficiency in managing the waste clearance from our famous Portobello Market. So efficient that they had to pay £750,000 to the stall holders in compensation for overcharging them for many years.
This type of eff iciency must be eating into borough reserves and robbing genuine projects of support. Shouldn't somebody be resigning for all these efficiencies?
