Police have confirmed that there were "a number of victims" of a raid on a self storage warehouse last week, but it is still unclear whether anything is missing.

Personal lock-ups were damaged during the break-in at the Shurgard block in Uxbridge Road, Hayes. Police were called to the scene in the early hours of  Friday last week, March 21.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman was unable to give an exact number of customers affected, and added that while there were clear signs of a disturbance, officers still don't know whether any items were stolen.

There have been no arrests.

A Shurgard spokesman said in a statement that the company was working with police to "prevent future violations."

"Currently we do not have confirmation that anything was stolen and it appears to be an act of vandalism.

"Shurgard is currently collaborating with the police in order to identify what happened and we are offering support to the affected customers.

"We always ask our customers as well to pay attention and be discrete. Unfortunately, despite all measures taken, crime can never be entirely excluded."

Shurgard has 22 stores in London and the Thames Valley area. The Hayes site is open between 6am and 11pm, but unit holders can request 24-hour access.
