A 23-year-old man who was shot in the back in Hayes is expected to be released from hospital today, according to police.

The victim was shot in Cleave Avenue at around 10.20pm on January 19, sparking an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service's Trident Gang Crime Command.

But nearly a week on from the attack, no arrests have been made.

The victim, who lives in Hayes, was treated for a single gunshot wound at a central London hospital.

One resident living near to the scene of the shooting described seeing firearms officers carrying guns on the night of the attack and said forensics teams had visited the area since.
