Orchestras, Samba bands, choirs and the Glee Club – it sounds like a recipe for cacophony, but according to Haydon School's head of performing arts, it works.

"When that many Year 7 kids sing together it really sounds fantastic," said Thomas Daley.

The choir is one of two performing at the Haydon Christmas concert tomorrow night (Tuesday).

It will be joined by the school choir, Folk Group, Samba Band and Glee Club, plus the Jazz Band, senior and junior orchestras plus various soloists and a medley of small performing groups.

The concert is one of a series of events this week to close out the winter term at the school in Wiltshire Lane, Eastcote, including special assemblies and the annual prize-giving ceremony, and Mr Daley was quick to praise colleague and head of music, Justin Sloan, for pulling it together.

There are still a few tickets left for the concert, which starts at 7pm. They cost £5 for adults and £3 for children, and the evening will conclude with a Christmas carol sing-along.
