Police are appealing for witnesses after a man from Harrow was killed in a car crash in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who has not yet been named, was the passenger in a blue Vauxhall Calibre that is believed to have carreered into the central reservation, and several parked cars, on the A1 North, near Watford - before somersaulting.

The 23-year-old driver, also from Harrow, fled the scene following the crash at 1.30am, but was caught and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released on bail for hospital treatment but has been ordered to return on Sunday next week.
