A Conservative Harrow councillor has been charged with giving oral sex to another man in a public toilet in South Harrow.
Councillor Robert Benson, 41, ward member for Harrow Weald, who lives in Brockleyside, Stanmore, appeared at Harrow Magistrates' Court, Rossyln Crescent, on Thursday (17).
He was charged with engaging in sexual activity in a public lavatory, but did not enter a plea.
Councillor Benson was arrested in Rayners Lane on Wednesday June 25, at approximately 3.45pm, on suspicion of gross indecency, and bailed to return to a north London police station on July 8, when officers charged him.

Council leader Councillor David Ashton (Conservative) said: "Firstly, this is a matter for the courts. Secondly, as Conservative group leader, I have suspended Councillor Benson from the group.
"If somebody is charged with a criminal offence, they are suspended as part of our standard procedure."
Mr Benson remains a councillor, but not a Conservative one.

A second man, a 56-year-old from Essex, was issued with a caution.
The case was adjourned to Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday July 30.
