A petition signed by more than 350 concerned neighbours of Church Fields has been handed in to Harrow Council.

Home owners on Kingsfield Road,  Harrow on the Hill , were shocked last month to find a notice put up by Harrow Council saying that The Harrow Foundation which owns the land have insisted the authority install a gate restricting public access.

However the deputy leader of the council, Keith Ferry, while speaking at a cabinet meeting last night said that details of a 'compromise' that has now been reached between the two parties would be announced in the coming days.

Residents have been petitioning and submitted 391 names calling for the council to act and preserve their public access to the land, which acts as a key route in the daily lives of many.

A formal announcement is expected next week.
