LARGE areas of north west London have been spared flooding while the rest of the south east has suffered a deluged.

Only two floods have been reported in Harrow, but no roads have been closed, and there are no reports of flooding in Brent.

Harrow Council received reports of highway flooding in Watford Road, Harrow, and Dennis Lane, Stanmore caused by surface water, but there was not enough water for the roads to be closed.

Brent Council said that there had been no reports of flooding.

In an unfortunate incident unrelated to the heavy rain which the country has sustained a water pipe burst in High Road, Wealdstone on Friday and the road was subject to a large amount of water.

Buses and traffic were diverted as the road was closed over the weekend but the road reopened on Monday.

The Environment Agency has not issued any flood warnings for either of the boroughs but there is a severe flood warning for the River Colne at Willowbank and levels of the same river through Watford and Bushey remain high.

More rain is expected today (Tuesday) and throughout Wednesday as a yellow warning for rain and high winds has been issued by the Met Office for Harrow.
