BANDS rocked out at a bar to raise money for a community radio station.

The Scapegoats, I Saved Latin, Bible Code Sunday and Concrete Disco all performed at Trinity Bar, Station Road, Harrow.

They were part of a fundraising evening for Harrow Community Radio, which operates out of the youth centre at the Wealdstone Centre and have about 15 volunteers who help record shows which go out on the internet.

Keith Chilvers, one of the directors, said: “It went really well, we have never done anything like this before as we have always been really lucky with grants and things, but it was a good night. The people who turned up enjoyed it, the bands enjoyed it and we raised £200.”

Mr Chilvers said they have plans to make it an annual event and are looking at other ways to raise money.

The station has been going for two years and welcomes volunteers to have their own show or help out behind the scenes.

It has recently launched an app, which is available on iPhone and android devices.
