MP ANDY Slaughter has urged at-risk people aged over 65 to get the flu jab this winter.

Hammersmith and Fulham lags behind the national average for people getting the preventative jab, with 69 per cent of over-65s getting inoculated compared to a national average of 74 per cent.

Speaking at a convention of MPs and peers at Westminster Flu Day, Mr Slaughter said: “The seasonal flu vaccination is important to help protect those people who are more susceptible to serious complications or even death from flu. I would encourage all those who are over the age of 65 or are in one of the ‘at-risk’ groups to visit their surgeries and get vaccinated.”

The elderly and those with medical conditions are deemed most at risk.
