A BREAST cancer survivor who battled the disease for nearly eight years is to run the Race for Life and is looking for sponsorship.

Marie de Marwicz, from Colwith Road, Hammersmith, was diagnosed in 2004 and was finally given the all-clear last year.

Ms de Marwicz, who has three cats, was a regular runner before her diagnosis and is looking forward to competing again in the race in High Wycombe on June 16. She will raise money for Cancer Research.

She said: "It's been a while but I can't wait to get back out there and raise money for what is a great cause. It was a long road to recovery for me and it feels quite strange not having my regular appointment with the specialist at the Royal Marsden. I am determined to go out and do the things I have always wanted to do."

One of those things is a long-held dream to run around a big athletics stadium, and next month she will travel to Sheffield to stretch her legs in the Don Valley arena, the local track of Olympics star Jessica Ennis.

"I can't wait," she added.
