Hammersmith-born actor Tom Hardy has what it takes to give up acting and become a boxer, a boxing veteran claims.

The 36-year-old actor has been preparing for his two roles as the notorious Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie, by training with Freddie Roach who coached world champion boxer, Manny Pacquaio, The Sun has reported.

Known for his dark portrayal of the evil Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, he has been beefing up again with the legendary coach to get into shape for new movie Legend to portray the east London twins who were amateur boxers.

Roach has been pushing the Lawless star to his limits and has said 'he could step in the ring for real' as he thinks Hardy has the talent to be a professional boxer.

Born in Hammersmith in 1977, the hard-man BAFTA-winning actor was then brought up in nearby East Sheen and went to Richmond Drama School, followed by the Drama Centre London.

He was spotted filming for the gangster drama in Borough yesterday.

Tom Hardy starred alongside Hammersmith native Juliet Oldfield in 2008 blockbuster, Bronson.
