Children turned up to a charity shop’s Hallowe’en storytelling event which had the puppet Sooty reading some spooky-themed books.

Oxfam in Bridge Street, Pinner, hosted a party for children under the age of nine on Friday last week.

Local voice actor Andrew Hamblin from Pinner read some of the stories alongside puppet Sooty and Harrow Heroes nominee Delia Cazzato.

Store manager Nada Whincop said: “It was so much fun, it was gorgeous, the children loved it.

“They kept speaking to Sooty the puppet and wanted the stories to be read over and over again.

“Sales went up 20 per cent that day which is good.

“Everyone ate Fairtrade chocolate and there were donuts with ghost faces on them.

“It was a brilliant day and we hope to do it again next year.”
