Residents will get their first look at proposals to regenerate Gunnersbury Park early next year, it has emerged.

Council leader Peter Thompson last week promised the 'fullest possible public debate' on the Brentford park's future as he moved to dispel 'rumours' about a £10 million luxury housing development on the site.

He said consultants were preparing detailed bids on how to save the park and its crumbling relics based on a 'conservation management plan' drawn up by joint owners Hounslow and Ealing councils.

"There is no secretly adopted plan to build on the park," he added. "Nor is there any intention to take decisions about the park's future without the fullest involvement of the community as a whole."

An informal joint working group, created to update residents on progress, will meet again on Thursday at 7pm at the Small Mansion in the park.

Meanwhile, Hounslow and Ealing councils are working on the constitution for a new body, which is expected to meet in public for the first time within two months.
