A Feltham cat owner has told of his shock after his beloved pet was shot with a BB gun.

Carpenter Mac McDermott, of Southern Avenue, is looking for answers after his cat, Mouse, was targeted by a callous gunman.

The 58-year-old said: "He is limping, so the injury has affected his mobility. He'll never be able to jump and walk as he used to."

The three-year-old tabby came home with a limp but no apparent wound on May 10.

After the limp persisted for a few days, Mr McDermott took Mouse to the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital where an X-ray showed a ball bearing pellet lodged in the cat's left hind leg.

His owners still have no idea who shot Mouse with a BB gun, despite the RSPCA posting signs in the area as part of an investigation into the incident.

"We are very shocked and upset. It is terrible to think that people could do something like this deliberately," said Mr McDermott.

After a minor operation, Mouse returned home on May 30 to begin his recovery.

The cat's treatment, including the operation and antibiotics, has cost Mr McDermott £150.Without help from the RSPCA the cost would have been much too much and he would have had to put the animal down.
