An umbrella organisation created to unite the community in Isleworth is back for 2014 with an even bigger list of events.

Last year St Bridgets Church Fayre, the debut of Isleworth Street Market and the annual carol singing in the town square, all took place under the banner Inspiring Isleworth.

Normally each would have happened separately from one and other but it was hard work from people like Adrianne Mead and her team from St Bridgets; Molly Khandan-nia and Alicia Powell (along with Councillor Sue Sampson and Colin Kyte) from Isleworth Market and Mike Derham from the Isleworth Society that everything came together for the good of the town.

The fact the church went on to report a large rise in profits and the market attracted more than 2,000 people has convinced organisers it is a feat worth repeating.

Spurred on by this inspiration and community bonding, voluntary groups of local residents and businesses have come together again and are now planning to raise the profile of Isleworth even further.

Known as Inspiring Isleworth II, it has seen the creation of a committee of volunteers drawn from all walks of life and with a variety of skills and experience.

Publicity officer Nowell Anderson said: “Everyone on the committee is passionate and totally committed to making Inspiring Isleworth II a resounding success for all to enjoy.

“To start this years’ programme a series of events have been planned by different groups of people with each group having a chairperson to act as an lead organiser.

“We look forward to welcoming each and everyone one of you; adults and children, young and senior throughout the year.

“So come on board and join us. You will enjoy yourselves.”

The first event takes place next Sunday (11) with the annual volunteers day run by the Friends of the River Crane & Environment Group (FORCE).

Residents are invited to drop in at Silverhall Park, in North Street, Isleworth from 10.30am to roll up their sleeves and develop their muscles by participating in a physical days worth of activity to help wildlife and keep the riverbank clean and safe.

The next event after that will be the annual Isleworth Street Party , in Church Street, near the London Apprentice, on June 7.

Full details will be available nearer the time.
