A scuffle in central Harrow - rumoured to be a stabbing - left two men needing treatment in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Residents awoke to find their roads cordoned off by police officers after callers to 999 told of an assault.

A Harrow Police spokeswoman said: "On Saturday at 3.15 am police were called to Radnor Road, junction with Wellsley Road, Harrow to reports of a group of males fighting.

"Two men aged 25 and 26 were taken to Northwick Park Hospital with their injuries which were non life threatening and they were released shortly afterwards.

"Two men aged 22 were arrested nearby in connection with the incident and have been bailed to a date in April pending further enquiries.

"The road was closed for a few hours whilst police carried out their investigation."

One local told the Observer: "I think it was a stabbing. It was around Norbury First and Middle School. The person who was injured had just sort of staggered there and fell on the grass verge."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed two men were taken to hospital but could not disclosed the nature of either the incident of the patients' injuries.
