KEEPING traffic on the move in the worst of weathers has won a company a place in a new business community of fast-growing enterprises.
GRITIT, founded in 2002 and based at Stockley Park, specialises in winter gritting, maintenance and snow clearance for private companies and local authorities.
The £8million turnover firm is now a member of Accelerate 250 – a list of the fastest growing small and medium-size companies in the UK brought together by Lord Young and former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy.
Members of Accelerate 250 come from across the UK and represent industries from food and fashion to pharmaceuticals and finance.
They will be working closely with one another to address the key issues and shared challenges that face all growing businesses.
Sir Terry said: “It’s our belief that Britain’s prosperity in the 21st century global economy is going to be built on the success of high-potential, fast-growth businesses.
“That is why we will be assembling a new group of Britain’s brightest and best businesses to put them at the heart of Britain’s economic renaissance.”
Jason Petsch, co-founder of GRITIT, said: “Accelerate 250 highlights the vital role that small businesses play when it comes to the UK economy, and it is an honour to be represented alongside such prestigious national brands.
“Over the last few years, we have received a number of awards and accolades, including two Virgin Sunday Times Fast Track rankings. It means so much to me that the theme of winter gritting and risk management has risen so high up the agenda, and that people are beginning to appreciate its importance in society.”
