Tesco Express store has marked its opening in Oldfield Lane, Greenford, with a donation to the Royal British Legion.

At the launch celebrations, store manager Don De Dilva presented the Greenford branch of the armed forces charity with a cheque for £500.

Branch secretary Lyn Britton, chairman George Podmore, and vice chairman Roy Reynolds cut the ribbon to the new store, declaring it officially open.

Mr De Silva said: “We were delighted to be able to support the Greenford Royal British Legion as it does such fantastic work for those living in the Greenford commnity. We are so pleased that Lyn, George and Roy came to open the new store and join in the celebrations with us. We are really enjoying meeting our new customers and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”

Mr Podmore said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation. The money will help us to continue to provide a service for our members and their families.”
