Elyar Fox, signed by Sony’s RCA Records, is currently on tour with X Factor band Union J and will be until January 10, two days before his single about a party that never ends comes out.

I spoke to him on the fourth day of their tour (December 18) and he was full of excitement and said the Union J guys are really cool.

Elyar said they have been busy but he loves it and would not wish for anything different.

He said he feels honoured to have the opportunity to tour the UK and told me that the shows have been full up so far.

The pop singer was born in Ealing, grew up in Greenford and still has a base in the area. He went to Costons Primary School in Oldfield Lane South followed by Queensmead in South Ruislip for his secondary education, and has been into music from a very young age.

His early memories of Greenford include a Christmas card competition that he won while in primary school where the best picture was chosen by MP for Ealing North Steve Pound and was featured in Woolworths.

Elyar said: “When I was 13 I was in a high school band and started doing gigs and anything I could.

“I took a year off after GCSEs to try and figure things out and see what I wanted to do. I spent a lot of time writing music and putting it up on YouTube.

“From there things picked up and managers of labels started getting in touch. By the time it came to releasing music I was so ready.”

He added: “My long term hope is to be doing what I’m doing now but even bigger- that’s the dream, to have my own tour.”

Elyar’s influences include Good Charlotte and Nirvana. He said the reason he first picked up a guitar was because of rock music, but these days his inspiration is Bruno Mars.

When I asked him how he felt about being compared to Justin Bieber and Conor Maynard he said he thinks it is great to be compared to successful artists but that they are different and have different backgrounds.

He said: “I’m coming out with a straight out pop album - I think pop just means something catchy. My album has a triangle feel- a clubby, acoustic and a rocky side. When making pop music you can still find diversity.”

Elyar will be spending Christmas at his nan’s in the country- an opportunity to get away, chill, and enjoy eating lots of food.
