A GREENFORD pupil has taken part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award’s first digital section in a five-part programme run by the organisation.

Laura Njoku, 17, who goes to Cardinal Wiseman School in Greenford Road, took part in the digital residential course in Brighton which included staging and recording a flashmob, a digital scavenger hunt and performing Michael Jackson’s hit, Thriller, on Brighton Pier.

Laura completed the course as part of her Gold Award and said: “Learning about different programmes and receiving tips on how to move forward in digital media was the most useful part.

“I was editing short videos, writing down my ideas and will carry on networking in the future. The scavenger hunt was quite challenging because I had to come out of my comfort zone to talk to strangers. I have never done anything like this before, but it was fun.”

Laura returned to reality for the rest of her gold DoE – teaching youngsters drama for the voluntary section, baking for the skills section, going to the gym for the physical and doing a stint in Snowdonia for the expedition.
