A car crash on the Great West Road in Heston left an elderly woman with serious injuries yesterday afternoon.

The 62-year-old, who was rushed to hospital, is believed to have been hit when two cars collided in the Great West Road, at the junction with Vicarage Farm Road.

A Nissan Almera and a Honda Accord were in collision at the junction just before 2pm and the Nissan was flipped onto its side, injuring the pedestrian.

Paramedics rushed her to Charing Cross Hospital but early reports indicate her injuries are not life threatening.

Vicarage Farm Road and part of the Great West Road were closed for several hours following the crash, causing huge tailbacks on surrounding highways.
