A 'LOVING and generous' great-grandmother has died just months after celebrating her 100th birthday.

Winifred Lickorish, who grew up in Hanworth and lived in the area most of her life, passed away on Friday, September 6.

She had celebrated her centenary on April 26 with family and friends at the nursing home in Shepperton where she lived for the last year of her life.

Winnie, as she was known, grew up in Glebe Cottages, Hanworth, and later lived in Bedfont and Feltham before moving to the care home last May.

She worked at a jam factory in Southall and later as a cleaner. She married her late husband Philip in 1937 and their only child, daughter Doreen Sanders, was born two years later.

She is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Her granddaughter Julie Ash, 50, said: "She was so loving and generous and never had a bad word to say about anyone."

* The funeral will take place on Friday September 20 at St Richard's Church, in Forge Lane, Hanworth, at 11am. Her family have asked for any donations to be made to the British Heart Foundation, via Lodge Brothers in Hanworth.
