MY THANKS to all the volunteers who took part in Community Service Volunteers Make a Difference Day this year. Tens of thousands of
people across the country signed up to events and organised their own to help an individual, a cause, a group, the environment or even a whole community over the course of the two weeks of events.
I was a guest panellist at a talent contest in London organised by volunteers to celebrate Make a Difference Day and the achievements of everyone who took part. All the acts volunteered their performances in the spirit of the day and we had an incredible evening of entertainment.
This year's events were truly inspiring. A lady in South Ayrshire was 'guerrilla baking' - adding beetroot to brownies to encourage healthy eating - and a farm in Yorkshire dressed its animals as Halloween characters to bring a smile to the faces of some terminally ill children.
CSV is the leading volunteering and training charity in the UK and places around 200,000 volunteers each year. The volunteers befriend the isolated, improve the environment, increase children's literacy skills, give people advice on fuel savings and mentor vulnerable people, to name a few examples.
Everyone can make a difference. KRISS AKABUSI CSV Make a Difference Day
