Golfers in Osterley clubbed together to raise an astonishing £15,500 for four charities.

A trio of former club captains at Wyke Green Golf Club, in Syon Lane, raised the money between them during their spell in charge by holding golf weekends, dances and other events.

The past captains, Anoop Ghai, Andrew Soutar and Ajay Ruparel, got together over Christmas to present the proceeds to representatives from the four charities: Karers 4 Kidz, which received £1,000; Each Counselling, given £5,000; Meningitis Now, awarded £6,000; and Meadow House Hospice, which got £3,500.

Tim Owers, marketing manager and PGA professional at the club, said: "Charity is at the heart of much of what we do here at Wyke Green Golf Club. We as a club are delighted to help support so many fantastic local causes.

"The support from our ever generous membership has been outstanding and we look forward to being able to donate many more thousands of pounds over the coming years."
