PROPERTY developers in West Drayton have come up with a unique way of raising awareness of eye injuries as well as money for guide dogs.

By promoting safety and selling workers its goggles for just £1, the St George's Goggles for Guide Dogs campaign has made more than £12,000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

And the developer claims the drive has cut eye injuries on its sites by 80 per cent.

At its Park West development in Porter's Way, West Drayton, last Friday, St George's presented a cheque to the charity, which was collected by actor and musician David Kent, 48, who has had a guide dog for more than 30 years.

Ian Dobie, managing director of St George West London Ltd, said: "Working with such a great organisation as The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is a 'win win' situation, which makes sure we get the message of eye safety across to our staff and contractors while raising funds for this important charity."
